One of Ireland’s most respected culinary partnerships has been rekindled with the opening of this stunning new restaurant, Morels in Dun Laoghaire. Stephane Couzy has brought in award-winning head chef Alan O’Reilly, rekindling a relationship that stretches back almost two decades when they first worked together.
Alan O’Reilly owned the hugely successful restaurant, also called Morels, in Glasthule in the mid 1990’s. Alan went on to open, most recently, Alexis in Dun Laoghaire with his brother Patrick which was recognised as one of the finest restaurants in the country. Alexis closed in January of this year, which led to Stephane approaching Alan to join him in this new venture. Between them they decided to name the restaurant Morels in honor of the original restaurant in Glasthule.
Morels is situated at 17-18 Patrick Street Dun Laoghaire in a newly renovated dining room and kitchen on the site that Alexis previously occupied. The restaurant is open Tuesday – Sunday for Dinner and Thursday, Friday and Sunday for lunch. Morels serves Bistro style, contemporary French cuisine at excellent prices.
