Rewarding Times are delighted to team up with The Wine Appreciation Society who are hosting a one-day workshop in The Merrion Hotel, Dublin on Saturday 18th; November from 10.30 a.m. when you will taste and assess the virtues of 6 styles of wines together with a champagne and sparkling wine. Using the professional tasting technique that engages the separate and distinctive appearances, bouquets and taste qualities of the wines, you shall be brought through a tutored opportunity to compare and contrast excellent wines accompanied by a 3-course luncheon in the exquisite surroundings of The Cellar Bar.

About the Wine Appreciation Society:

David Hollywood and Ruth FitzGerald established The Wine Appreciation Society in 2002 and since then have run courses and programmes in wine education, entertainment and appreciation in Ireland, Moldova, Russia, The Middle East, the USA and The Caribbean. We are now focused upon offering full one-day Professional Wine Appreciation programmes in The Merrion Hotel Dublin, plus other exclusive locations throughout the country.

About the event:

The event will commence at 10.30 a.m. and run until approximately 5.00 p.m. with a 90-minute break for lunch.

During the morning session we highlight a wide variety of educational details relating to viticulture; and the management of the grape while it is still on the vine and then right through to events required during the maintenance of the vineyard, timetables of responsibilities during of the seasons, effects of the weather, soil, latitudes, diseases plus harvesting schedules and techniques used.

In the afternoon we cover features regarding vinicultural and the making and management of wines, the winemakers methods and tasting practices, bottling, labelling, storage and varietal versus blended styling and procedures.

Parallel to all of this are various tastings that take place continuously throughout the day and which covers a cross section of white wines in the morning followed by reds in the afternoon and then champagne/sparkling wines from around 4.00 p.m. for an hour. However, enthusiasms sometimes tend to overflow the allocated time frames.

Combined with this will be coverage and comparisons relating to old world versus new world wines.

While we aim to offer a comprehensive appreciation of wine, our focus is upon providing a casually informative opportunity to learn about a wide range of wine styles and their varying characteristics, while all the time maintaining a relaxed approach geared towards everyone having fun within the company of like-minded enthusiasts.

Additionally, we shall demonstrate and tutor all participants in the three stages and techniques relating to how to taste wine professionally; appearance, bouquet and taste, and combine this with thoughts about matching wines and foods.

During the 90 minute break participants shall enjoy a 3 course luncheon in the elegant surroundings of The Cellar Bar.
