ely bar & brasserie is celebrating awards. Awarded Wine Bar of the year in 2014 and again in 2015 by the Sunday Business Post and the Best Wine Experience 2014 by Food & Wine Magazine. This month ely bar & brasserie continues to push on by sharing in the recognition from the McKenna Guides 100 Best Restaurants 2015 in Ireland listing.

The McKennas said "What distinguishes ely is an utter seriousness about the quality of ingredients they use … Pair this with their peerless wine list and you have an unbeatable combination."

Well, ely bar & brasserie would like to invite you to celebrate new flavours, great colours and seasonal produce and "Pair" their new Spring menu with two very well chosen wines.

Enjoy ely’s famous hand cut, organic beef carpaccio from their own family farm in the Burren, Toonsbridge Dairy’s buffalo mozzarella from Ireland’s only water buffalo farm in West Cork, organic Irish Burren Smoke House salmon – that won’t disappoint, or succulent Thornhill duck. And that's just for starters!

Experience the flavours of the Wild Atlantic Way without having to leave the city with delicious Kilkeel landed halibut or fresh Carlingford oysters from Louth. Taste delicate wild Aughrim Partridge, tender organic “Craggy Island” spring lamb and 28 day dry-aged melt-in-the-mouth Boyne Valley rib-eye. To nicely round off your perfect evening, relax with an ely dessert.

ely makes and bakes all of their desserts in-house with love and their home comfort ice cream comes from the Natural Ice-cream Company.

"Pair" all that fabulous Irish produce with two brilliantly crafted wines from Italy.

ely has selected a smooth Tuscan red in the form of a modern Chianti and a bright, fresh white from Piedmont, a Gavi.

Da Vinci Chianti Riserva 2011

Chianti is one of the most traditional of Italian wines, but this wine is given a modern twist.  Predominantly Sangiovese, it shows the classic aroma of dark cherry, plum and spice, while the addition on a little Merlot provides and smoothness and softness not always found in these wines. Like most Italian reds, it is an exceptional food wine.

Broglia ‘La Meirana’ Gavi 2013

This is the type of white that makes us wish we lived in Italy. Produced entirely from the little known Cortese grape, it is properly dry, wonderfully fresh, and laden with lemon, apple and pear fruit. A perfect wine for Spring and even the onset of Summer.

ely. Enjoy.
