Hallelujah – An Evening of Inspirational Music – Sat 24 June 2017 at the National Concert Hall
'HALLELUJAH' is an evening of inspirational music from throughout the ages, featuring the world-renowned Palestrina Choir of the Pro-Cathedral, Dublin. Favourites such as Ave Maria, Panis Angelicus, Queen of the May and You Raise Me Up are presented alongside classic works by Verdi, Fauré, Mozart, Schubert and Handel - including the Hallelujah Chorus from Handel's 'Messiah'.
Acclaimed soprano Sandra Oman is joined by Ireland’s leading baritone Simon Morgan, both of whom have their own strong following in the world of classical music and opera. Legendary Irish singer Mary Coughlan will bring her distinctive blues voice to the Leonard Cohen classic Hallelujah and X-Factor star Melanie McCabe sings the Celine Dion modern classic The Prayer. Brilliant young violinist Denice Doyle plays the famous Meditation (from Thaïs) by Massenet and international trumpet soloist Niall O'Sullivan will perform the inspiring Trumpet Voluntary by Jeremiah Clarke, among other works.
‘HALLELUJAH’ is produced by Niall Morris, who previously had big successes at the NCH when he created shows about operatic legends Maria Callas & Luciano Pavarotti. Whilst the music has been carefully chosen to illustrate the lives of certain renowned and much-loved figures in history, the narrative also investigates how the composers created these ageless classics. Don't miss this inspiring evening of breath-taking music featuring world-class Irish talent, narrated with large overhead screen, historic images & archive footage.
